BUYER GUIDE
Choose a surface finish around the working environment
Compare functional, cosmetic and post-processing requirements before quoting.
PROJECT NOTES
Begin with a specific question.
The tightest tolerance is rarely needed everywhere. Separate functional interfaces from cosmetic surfaces, identify datums and inspection requirements, and give the manufacturer a clear view of what the component needs to do.
PROJECT NOTES
The information that supports a useful review.
Material & condition: Specify alloy, stock condition and any material traceability requirements. Geometry & interfaces: Provide a STEP model and a dimensioned drawing with critical datums. Tolerances & inspection: Identify functional dimensions, measurement methods and reporting requirements. Quantity & finish: State prototype and repeat quantities, cosmetic expectations and surface treatments.
PROJECT NOTES
Agree on how to evaluate the result.
A useful sample review connects the drawing or model with the intended application. Document the revision, identify the features that determine fit or function, and agree on the method used to inspect them. Visual approval alone cannot establish mechanical performance. Separate mandatory requirements from preferences. Where the selected process may change an edge, surface or interface, ask for a clear explanation and a sample before committing to a repeat order.
PROJECT NOTES
Turn feedback into the next revision.
A multi-axis machining concept for components with angled faces, sculpted surfaces or features that are difficult to reach in a single setup. Keep an ordered list of findings: the feature, expected result, observation and proposed change. Confirm that any material or process substitution is reviewed before the next sample is made.
